Mora Bryggeri takes history into the future
When you taste our soft drinks, you are struck by the fact that they taste just like they did in the past, the elderly come forward and say that they bring memories to life. Because history lives in the brewery. The foundation stones were already laid in 1872 in Hemus in Mora, right next to where the Vasalopp track now leads. There they started producing beer and soft drinks, later also soft drinks.
The brewery lived on for just over 100 years before state-owned Pripps bought up and later closed it down in 1979, and in 2003 we in the Andersson family took over the brand and are driving it further into the future. Many of the recipes have been able to be used and the most noted ones include our test-winning Gammeldags Mora Must, Gold Pilsner and Mora Sockerdricka.
For us, everything started in 1996 when we handed in the large bundle of papers that was then required to be allowed to start
brewery operations. The Andersson family, led by father Jörgen, was driven by a burning interest in drinks and a will to never give up. The brewery was built with toil and toil in one of the outbuildings on Jörgen’s family farm in the village of Vattnäs outside Mora. In 2003, as I said, ties were tied when we had the opportunity to acquire the Mora Brewery brand.
The rest, as they say, is history.
The brewery has since moved from Vattnäs to new self-built premises in Mora-Noret. Nowadays is whole
the Andersson family engaged. Mother Eva, father Jörgen and the now adult children Ellinor and Markus.
Over the years, the workforce has been strengthened with four more people in production and sales.
Grocery stores are our largest customer group, but restaurants and cafes are also discovering us more and more as we have been listed in Martin & Servera’s range since 2020. We are registered with Coop, Ica and Axfood. We have IP food certification and we are connected to Returpack and to the Packaging and Newspaper Collection.
We work our way into the future long-term, methodically and with small means. We brew and manufacture all our drinks in Mora and we are proud to carry on the region’s brewing tradition in the footsteps of our fathers to the rest of Sweden.
